SR Whelan is a figurative oil painter whose works combine the skill of figurative realism, while also maintaining an abstract nature that captures the wild and free spirit of her subjects.

‘Women Exposed’ could be the title of every work she has ever made. For Whelan, the nature of creating art or “birthing” as she often refers to it, is a process of exposing oneself. For growth, both artistically, spiritually and personally. Her work invites both subject, and viewer, to remember their true essence, beauty and power as a Human Being of Light, and to slough off the labels and stories that have been fed to us from a patriarchal system that serves only itself.
